Saitama City starts testing the e-NV200

Nissan has announced it will be testing the electric e-NV200 van in Saitama City in Japan. The electric delivery van will be used between Saitama City Hall and other municipal offices in the course of conducting regular business. The van is part of the E-Kizuna pilot project in the city.

Since 2011, Nissan has been carrying out field tests of the e-NV200 van with different corporations. In Japan, Nissan has partnered with Coca-Cola and AEONMALL, in Europe, they partnered with British Gas, and now in Singapore.

Feedback from drivers and fleet operators from the electric van field tests have been overwhelmingly positive.

According to Nissan, “The e-NV200 displays great potential for businesses, with its advanced telematics system and power-supply function in the cargo compartment. Also, the model’s enviable running cost – a priority for most companies – will be highly attractive when competing in the commercial vehicle marketplace”

Nissan is scheduling to start production of the e-NV200 this year in its Zona Franca plant in Barcelona, Spain. Nissan will also produce single speed gearboxes for the Leaf and e-NV200 at that plant.
