At an event earlier today at Niagara Falls, Porsche unwrapped the official production ready Porsche Taycan EV. With it, Porsche also released pricing information and long-awaited specs on acceleration and range.
The launch version comes in 2 different models – the Porsche Taycan Turbo, and the Taycan Turbo S. Both of the trim levels use a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that produces 617 horsepower during normal driving. The Turbo S has slightly more torque, at 774 lb-ft compared to the Turbo version’s 626 lb-ft. With the ‘launch mode’ setting enabled, the horsepower increases to 671 in the Turbo, and 751 in the Turbo S.
The quickest time to 0-60 mph is with the launch mode, and the Taycan Turbo can do it in 3.0 seconds, while the Taycan Turbo S takes only 2.6 seconds! Top speed is limited to 161 mph.
The Turbo trim starts at $150,900 in the United States, and the Turbo S is $185,000.
Following an approach similar to Tesla, the two top-of-the-line Taycan Turbo versions are what will hit the market first, followed by a lower cost Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo showing up sometime in late 2020.
The online configuration tool is live here, and allows you to add enough options to the Taycan Turbo S to take the price up to over $240,000.
