Volkswagen Passat Plug-in Hybrid will debut in October

Volkswagen will be debuting the 2015 Passat Plug-in Hybrid electric vehicle in production form in October 2014.

As you can see in the recently released design sketches, the new Passat design is longer and sleeker than the previous. The newly designed Passat will initially come in a twin turbo diesel version, as well as a plug-in hybrid variant that is powered by a 1.4 liter gasoline engine and a 101 horsepower electric motor.

Electric-only range is expected to be around 31 miles NEDC.

No pricing or availability information is available yet, but look for the Passat PHEV to be available starting early 2016.
