Musk anticipates another Toyota partnership in the near future

At the recent Tesla Model S first-deliveries ceremony in Tokyo, Japan, Musk said Tesla could team up with Toyota on another joint electric vehicle in two or three years. There are no concrete plans, and Toyota has “nothing to say” about the matter.

“I think that if you look out maybe two or three years from now, that I would not be surprised if there is a significant deal with Toyota,” Musk said at the ceremony. “My best guess is that it would probably be something significant, maybe on a much higher volume level.”

After Toyota is done selling the last 470 Toyota Rav4 EVs, they will no longer have an electric vehicle on the market, and they publicly have no planned electric vehicle in the future. Toyota is seemingly all in for it’s upcoming hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.

Toyota owns 2-3% of Tesla stock, so a second partnership EV is a possibility.
