While cousin company Hyundai is busy working on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, Kia has said it will bring a battery powered full electric vehicle to market in 2014. We’ve seen the Ray EV from Kia (pictured above), but it was a limited production electric vehicle that was only available to fleets in Korea. The follow-up vehicle is the Soul EV.
Kia World, a blog on all things Kia, says the mass-produced Soul EV is due in the first half of 2014 for around $35,000 – no source was stated, so we’re not sure how much to believe this information. The Kia Soul will be “the very-first electric vehicle to be sold in the Global Market, including the US, Europe and China.” The Nissan Leaf can’t make that claim because it is being rebadged as a Fengshen E30 in China.
The 2014 Kia Soul EV is supposed to have a range of about 120 miles, and a top speed of 87 mph.
