Volvo V60 plug-in comes with improved app

Later this year, Volvo will start selling the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. In anticipation of the launch, Volvo is busy improving on its Volvo On Call smartphone app specifically for the V60 PHEV.

Volva On Call is a free download and includes features such as remote door locking, vehicle location devices and of course a fuel economy tracker.

The Volvo V60 plug-ing hybrid has a 2.4 liter turbocharged engine rated at 215 horsepower. In addition, a 70 hp electric motor can power the car by itself for up to 32 miles. No price has been released, but it’s speculated to be upwards of $80,000.

Volvo plans to make 1000 V60 PHEVs in 2013 and possibly up to 6000 the following year.In September of 2012, Volvo announced it had already sold out of the 2013 model year batch.

Sales are limited to the UK, for now at least.
