Kia EV6 GT Hits Korea: 650 HP With a $50K Price Tag

When Kia (000270.KS) first launched the EV6 GT, it proudly claimed the title of “most powerful Kia ever.” Now, with the latest refresh, Kia isn’t just holding onto that title—it’s redefining what an affordable, high-performance electric vehicle can be.

The 2024 Kia EV6 GT combines supercar-level performance, cutting-edge tech, and a surprisingly reasonable price, making it a standout in the ever-growing EV market—specifically, the Korean market.

Raw Power Meets Precision Engineering

Kia has taken the EV6 GT’s performance to the next level. With improved front and rear motors, the all-wheel-drive sports EV now produces a jaw-dropping 609 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque. For those who crave even more excitement, activating Launch Control unlocks 650 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque, enabling the car to rocket from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds.

These figures firmly position the EV6 GT in supercar territory, where it competes with—and often outpaces—vehicles like the Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan Evo. Yet, unlike those exotic machines, the EV6 GT starts at just over $50,000 in South Korea.

The Heart of the Beast

Beneath the sleek exterior lies an 84 kWh fourth-generation battery pack that powers this high-performance marvel. While the EV6 GT’s range is a modest 220 miles (355 km), its charging capabilities are anything but ordinary.

Plugging into a 350 kW charger takes the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, making it one of the fastest-charging vehicles in its class.

Advanced Tech for Maximum Control

Performance is nothing without control, and Kia has equipped the EV6 GT with state-of-the-art systems to ensure it handles as well as it accelerates. The electronically controlled suspension (ECS) and electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD) come standard, providing exceptional stability during spirited driving.

Meanwhile, regenerative braking with a maximum deceleration force of 0.6g and large disc brakes offer the stopping power needed for a car of this caliber.

A Driver-Centric Interior

The EV6 GT’s interior blends performance-focused design with comfort and convenience. Sports bucket seats upholstered in suede now include an 8-way power adjustment function, while the driver’s seat features a memory function and Easy Access settings to simplify usability for multiple drivers.

Kia has also upgraded the infotainment system, centering it around dual 12.3-inch screens for navigation and driver information.

Cutting-edge features like Augmented Reality Navigation and Kia Digital Key 2 enhance the driving experience, and thoughtful touches such as the Reversing Linked Auto Downward Exterior Mirror, which adjusts side mirrors when reversing, showcase Kia’s attention to detail.

Style and Substance

The refreshed EV6 GT offers a striking palette of five exterior colors, including bold choices like Yacht Matte Blue and timeless classics like Aurora Black Pearl. Inside, the exclusive Black & Neon theme creates a sporty yet futuristic vibe, perfectly matching the car’s dynamic persona.

A Supercar at a Fraction of the Price

At $50,000, the Kia EV6 GT delivers supercar performance at a price accessible to a broader audience. For context, vehicles like the Ferrari Roma start at around $245,000, while a Lamborghini Huracan Evo comes in at $215,000.

Even electric competitors such as the Porsche Taycan Turbo S carry price tags exceeding $230,000, making the EV6 GT an undeniable bargain in its class.

Charge Complete

The 2024 Kia EV6 GT is more than just an electric car; it’s a bold statement. By delivering unprecedented power, advanced technology, and refined design at an affordable price, Kia is reshaping expectations for high-performance EVs.

This car isn’t just about numbers—it’s about challenging the very idea that supercar thrills must come with a supercar price tag. Kia’s electric future is here, and with the EV6 GT, they’re just getting started.
