With no announcement or press release, Ford has lowered the price on the Ford Fusion Energi by $4000. Thanks to the eagle eyes at InsideEVs, the new pricing was spotted yesterday.
Ford’s plug-in offerings have really started to gain traction in the marketplace recently. In the last 4 months of 2013, Ford sold over 3600 Fusion Energis, and when combined with the C-max Energi, Ford says they “sold more plug-in vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2013 than both Toyota and Tesla.”
InsideEVs got in touch with Ford, here’s what a spokesperson had to say: “The Ford Fusion Energi Plug-in Hybrid’s new starting MSRP of $34,700 does just that and is an important part of our commitment to provide customers with a range of electrified vehicles to choose from.“
This brings the Fusion Energi price down to only $1800 more than the C-max Energi, and $500 less than the Focus Electric. There’s some speculation that Ford’s other plug-in models could have their prices adjusted as well.
With nearly 1000 Fusion Energi’s sold per month for the past few months, we’ll see what this substantial price reduction will do to sales numbers.
