Chevrolet’s 2025 Equinox EV: Beter SUV, Same Price

Chevrolet has been making waves with its new Equinox EV, initially lauded for its promise of affordability. However, the much-anticipated $35,000 base model was nowhere to be found in 2024, with the cheapest available version starting at $41,900. But Chevrolet has listened and revamped the Equinox EV for 2025, promising a more streamlined and customizable experience for buyers.

The New Trim Structure: Simplified Choices

For the 2025 model year, Chevrolet has ditched the confusing numeric designations like 3LT and 3RS. Instead, the Equinox EV will now come in just two trims: LT and RS. This change aims to simplify the buying process, allowing customers to choose a base model and then add the features they want through various packages.

Yes, Chevrolet completely changes the trim structure, so it won’t be easy to make a direct comparison. The thing you should know is that you get more for the same starting price. It’s the only piece of information people want to hear.

The base model for the 2025 Equinox EV is now priced at $34,995, making it more accessible. Despite being the entry-level option, it comes with a decent array of standard features that were previously unavailable on the theoretical 1LT model. These include a urethane steering wheel, manual seat controls, and cloth seats.

Customizable Packages for Enhanced Features

Chevrolet offers a range of packages to enhance the base model:

  • Comfort Package: Adds a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
  • Active Safety Package: Includes features like rear traffic alert and traffic sign recognition.
  • Convenience Package I and II: Provides upgrades like roof rails, a power tailgate, heated rear seats, and 21-inch wheels.

These packages allow buyers to equip their LT or RS models with the features they desire without jumping between multiple trim levels. The most basic enhanced LT with the Comfort and Active Safety II packages will cost $36,995, while fully loaded versions can reach up to $46,395.

It’s simpler than before: decide which model you want and choose which package you want to add. See the price, pay and enjoy your Equinox EV – it’s easy.

Performance Upgrades

The 2025 Equinox EV also sees a boost in performance:

  • Front-Wheel Drive (FWD): Now generates 220 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, up from last year’s 213 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque.
  • All-Wheel Drive (AWD): Increased to 300 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque from last year’s 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque.

These upgrades promise a more robust driving experience, although Chevrolet has not yet confirmed how these changes will affect the range.

The performance bump is welcomed, but don’t expect to be comparable to a sports car.

Enhanced Safety and Technology

Standard safety features for the 2025 Equinox EV include:

  • Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane departure warning and steering assist
  • Blind spot steering assist
  • Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Following distance indicator
  • GM’s safety alert seat

In terms of technology, the Equinox EV boasts a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In and an 11-inch digital instrument panel. Higher-end models now also come with a head-up display and a rear camera mirror, enhancing the driving experience.

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is set to hit dealerships soon, with the base LT trim arriving first. Here’s the full pricing breakdown:

  • LT: $34,995
  • LT with Comfort and Active Safety 2 Package: $36,995

A Promising Future for the Equinox EV

With its simplified trim structure, enhanced customization options, and improved performance, the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV appears to be a strong contender in the electric SUV market. The reintroduction of a base model at $34,995, combined with eligibility for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, makes it an attractive option for those looking to go green without breaking the bank. As Chevrolet continues to refine its EV offerings, the Equinox EV stands out as a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and accessibility in electric vehicles.

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is set to redefine affordable electric SUVs with its new trim structure, enhanced customization, and improved performance, making it a compelling choice for eco-conscious consumers.

Seeing these kinds of changes means that Chevrolet is on the right track. Offering a better vehicle for the same price as the previous one is a good sign that the company listens to the needs of its customers.

  1. This is standard operation for Chevy.During the many years following the development of the Volt, the much promised price came in over 5k higher. They don’t factor in increased labor and parts cost due to inflation and since they are developing and have not naileddown the final design before throwing out a price, it’s just hype and an attempt to catch some free publicity. The creator of this website/ forum as I recall was one of us few die hards tracking the Volt and went off near the end to develope his own page.
