BMW may be set to unveil a new electric car at the upcoming 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. Likely to be based on the BMW i3 electric vehicle, the new BMW i4 would be a more fashionable and sporty model to complement the BMW i3 in their i electric vehicle line.
According to a French magazine l’Automobile, the BMW i4 electric vehicle could be unveiled at the LA Auto Show later this month.
The i4 would be based on the i3 electric compact, but likely feature only 2 doors instead of 4, and would have a lower roof to give it a more sporty and dynamic profile on the road. Typical of a sportier model, it will likely sell for more than the BMW i3, which may already cost upwards of $50,000 in Europe (not factoring in incentives).
The 2014 BMW i3 uses a molded carbon reinforced plastic body to offset the weight of the battery pack. BMW claims that the i3 can go from 0-62mph in under 8 seconds. [to further discuss, visit our BMW i3 Forum]
Of course, BMW has not confirmed, or denied, the BMW i4, so we won’t know for sure until the LA Auto Show opens to the press on November 28th.
