After a long delay, Audi has announced via twitter that the A3 e-tron Sportback is now eligible to be sold in the USA. Originally set to go on sale last October, the e-Tron was delayed as it waited for CARB certification. Those regulatory issues have now been solved and the A3 e-Tron can roll out to dealerships.
Starting price in the USA is $39,700, and the 8.8 kWh lithium-ion battery provides an EPA range of 17 miles. The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron is eligible for $4,158 of federal tax credits in the USA.
Slightly strange is that some people on the A3 e-Tron forum have reported receiving their vehicle already, so we’re not really sure if some vehicles were released by dealerships too soon, or if Audi is just behind in making the official announcement.
I have acquired a 2016 audi A3 sportback e-tron. I am trying to learn how to get a set up to charge the battery. Electrician assures me that I have sufficient power in my electric panel. I want to have an appropriate plug located in my garage. I am trying to find out whether post-market charging apparatuses are compatible with the Audi charger. The cable length of the Audi charger is pretty short. What if I get a non-audi or non-bosch unit? Does that affect the warranty?
