2014 Chevrolet Spark EV now available at some dealerships

Back in March, Chevy reps said the Spark EV would be on sale by July if everything went according to plan. Here we are, 2 weeks to July, and Chevy has shipped 2014 Spark EVs to at least 2 dealerships in California. That means shipments are on there way to other dealerships, and likely to Oregon as well which is the Spark EV’s other intial market.

Still without any details on when GM will roll the Spark EV out nationally, we do know the electric vehicle will be available next year in select regions of Europe, and as a fleet-only vehicle in Canada.

The Chevy Spark EV was first announced for production back in October of 2011. With a starting MSRP of $27,495 the Spark EV is among the lowest priced EVs currently available. The 21 kWh lithium ion battery can power the vehicle up to 82 miles, and achieves efficiency of 119 MPGe combined.

The Chevy Spark EV will be the first EV with an SAE Combo Quick Charger. GM’s website says it is an option on the Spark EV, and has a note saying ‘late availability’ which likely means they will wait until there are compatible stations available (sometime later this year).
