Why the $61K Price for the 2025 VW ID Buzz Is a Steal

The long-awaited Volkswagen ID Buzz is finally making its way to U.S. showrooms, reviving the iconic VW bus in an all-electric avatar. While the starting price of $61,545 might cause some sticker shock, it’s important to understand what you’re getting for your money.

The ID Buzz is priced competitively with other electric family vehicles like the Kia EV9, and it comes packed with features that justify its cost.

Trim Levels and Pricing

Volkswagen has unveiled three trims for the ID Buzz: Pro S, Pro S Plus, and the 1st Edition. It seems like the brand is following the trend of Chinese manufacturers, naming the trim levels like smartphones.

ID Buzz Pro S

Starting at $61,545, this entry-level model comes with a single motor, rear-wheel drive, and a 91-kWh battery. It offers a range of 234 miles and is equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, and a suite of driver-assist features.

However, it lacks some of the customization options available on higher trims.

ID Buzz Pro S Plus

Priced at $65,045 for the rear-wheel drive version and $69,545 for the all-wheel drive 4Motion version, the Pro S Plus adds more luxury and tech features.

This includes a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a head-up display, and a tow hitch. The AWD version also comes with a heated windshield and captain’s chairs as standard.

ID Buzz 1st Edition

The launch-exclusive 1st Edition starts at $67,045 for RWD and $71,545 for AWD. It includes all the bells and whistles, such as unique two-tone paint options, 20-inch wheels, a panoramic electrochromic sunroof, and special badging.

This trim is designed for those who want the full retro-futuristic experience with all the latest tech.

Performance and Range

All ID Buzz models are powered by a 91-kWh battery, offering a range of 234 miles for RWD and 231 miles for AWD models. The Pro S models come with a single motor providing 282 horsepower, while the AWD versions in the Pro S Plus and 1st Edition trims bump this up to 335 horsepower, offering a bit more punch and traction.

Interior and Features

Inside, the ID Buzz blends nostalgia with modern tech. It features a spacious cabin that can accommodate up to seven passengers in the Pro S, with options for six-seat configurations in the higher trims. The interior is equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, three-zone climate control, and heated seats in the front and second rows.

The 1st Edition adds premium touches like a Harman Kardon sound system and a smart glass roof that changes opacity at the touch of a button.

The Verdict

While the Volkswagen ID Buzz’s price might seem steep at first glance, it offers a unique blend of style, practicality, and advanced electric technology.

Whether you’re a fan of the original VW bus or simply looking for a versatile electric family vehicle, the ID Buzz is set to be a standout choice when it arrives at dealerships later this year.
