The Mitsubishi i used to be the cheapest electric vehicle for sale in the U.S. until Smart announced it’s 3rd generation Electric Drive would retail from $25,570. Beating the Mitsubishi i-MiEV by almost $4000, it will be sure to disrupt sales numbers when it comes to market later this year.
This has Mitsubishi i dealers concerned. Concerned enough that one dealership, Town & Country Mitsubishi in Milwaukie, Oregon, has discounted the Mitsubishi i Miev $5,075 bringing the retail price down to $24,900. That beat the Smart Electric Drive price by over $1000.
After local and federal incentives, you could have a Mitsubishi i electric vehicle for close to $15,000!
The Mitsubishi i is still the most efficient electric vehicle, rated at using only 30 kWh per 100 miles earning a rating of 112 MPGe, while the Smart Electric Drive uses 34 kWh per 100 miles for a combined figure of 100 MPGe.
