Say Hello to Toyota’s Game-Changing Electric People Carriers!

Toyota has just electrified the UK’s people carrier market with the launch of the all-new, all-electric Proace Verso and Proace City Verso MPVs. These new models are designed to offer more range, cutting-edge technology, and a sleek new look. With deliveries set to begin in September, Toyota is aiming to make a big impact in the MPV segment with these versatile, eco-friendly vehicles.

Powering Up: Bigger Batteries and Longer Ranges

The headline news is the significant upgrade in battery size and range. The Proace Verso, Toyota’s larger people mover, now comes equipped with a robust 75 kWh battery, a considerable step up from the previous 50 kWh unit. This upgrade boosts the vehicle’s WLTP range to an impressive 214 miles, up from just 143 miles in the earlier model. Even with the larger battery, quick charging is efficient, with a 10% to 80% charge taking only 45 minutes—just 15 minutes longer than the previous smaller battery.

The more compact Proace City Verso, while sticking with the 50 kWh battery, offers an equally notable range of up to 213 miles. Despite its smaller size, it delivers a performance that’s perfect for urban commuting and family trips alike.

Versatility in Every Size

Toyota is offering the Proace Verso in two sizes: the L1 and L2, measuring 4,983 mm and 5,333 mm respectively. The L1 model, available in Icon and Design trims, is an eight-seater, with flexible seating options that include a single front passenger seat and three individual seats in both the second and third rows. The L2 extends this capacity to nine seats in its Icon trim, making it a perfect choice for larger families or group transport.

For those looking for a touch of luxury, the Proace Verso Excel model, which is available in the L2 size, offers seven seats, including two individual captain’s chairs in the second row and a lounge table, ensuring a premium travel experience.

The Proace City Verso, also available in L1 and L2 sizes, caters to families needing up to seven seats. It retains the practical and compact design that makes it a great choice for city driving, while still providing ample space and comfort.

Packed with Features

Both the Proace Verso and Proace City Verso come loaded with features that enhance convenience, safety, and entertainment. The Icon trim of the Proace Verso includes a 10-inch multimedia display with navigation, smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated driver’s seat, and rear parking sensors. Stepping up to the Design trim adds smart entry, push-button start, a panoramic roof, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The top-tier Excel model in the Proace Verso range takes comfort and luxury to another level with power sliding doors, leather upholstery, a reversing camera, and even a front seat massage function.

The Proace City Verso, despite its smaller stature, doesn’t skimp on features. It comes with a similar 10-inch multimedia setup, and the Design trim adds extra perks like roof rails, a heat pump for efficient air conditioning, and a reversing camera for added safety.

Pricing and Availability

The Proace Verso and Proace City Verso are now available for order in the UK, with prices starting at £31,849 for the Proace City Verso EV Icon 50 kWh in the L1 five-seater format. The larger Proace Verso EV Icon 75 kWh starts at £45,769 for the L1 eight-seater model.

Toyota is also sweetening the deal with a complimentary HomeCharge wallbox charger and free installation for those who purchase a Proace Verso EV or Proace City EV before September 30, 2024. This offer makes going electric even more appealing, as it includes a 10-year 4G data plan and seamless over-the-air software updates.

The Future of Family Travel

Toyota’s new electric MPVs show that the brand is commitment to innovation and sustainability. With their expanded range, advanced features, and versatile configurations, the Proace Verso and Proace City Verso are set to become the go-to vehicles for families and businesses looking for eco-friendly transport options. As the first deliveries roll out in September, these models are poised to lead the charge in the UK’s growing electric vehicle market.

With the launch of these new electric people carriers, Toyota is not just keeping up with the competition—they’re powering ahead, offering the perfect blend of practicality, technology, and environmental consciousness. Whether you’re shuttling kids to school, heading out on a road trip, or managing a fleet for your business, the Proace Verso and Proace City Verso are ready to meet the challenge, all while leaving a lighter footprint on the planet.

  1. Seriously?!! Is this all Toyota has ‘up its sleeve’ to save the company from *blindingly obvious* relatively imminent bankruptcy? A max real-world range of 150 miles is not going to cut it, guys!

  2. Apparently, thousands of chargers are TU after self-motivating entrepreneur types remove the copper cables to sell at the scrap-yard.
