Back in 2009, BMW group launched their first electric vehicle. It was an electrified MINI and they received over 1800 applications to be part of the field trial of 450 MINI Es.
Brand manager Peter Schwarzbauer recently said that electrifying future MINI models are part of the strategy. “It fits perfectly with the brand, and I am convinced that we will offer a suitable solution.”
The new generation MINI is on a BMW-engineered platform that will underpin the entire new MINI range, and is made to support different vehicle lengths and widths, as well as various hybrid and electric drivetrains. Since the platform is so flexible, it could be any future MINI model that gets electrified, but the larger vehicle size of the MINI Clubman makes it the prime candidate.
