2025 Ioniq 5: Hyundai’s Game-Changing EV Refresh!

Hyundai has given its popular Ioniq 5 a significant update for the 2025 model year, enhancing its appeal with new features, design tweaks, and improved capabilities.

Updated Exterior and New Color Options

The Ioniq 5, already a favorite in the electric vehicle market, now boasts refreshed bumpers, a reconfigured interior, and the much-requested addition of a rear windshield wiper.

The exterior changes are subtle but impactful, with the front bumper now featuring a wider black section framed by bold chrome accents, giving the Ioniq 5 a more assertive stance.

The rear of the vehicle benefits from a reworked spoiler and newly designed wheels that enhance aerodynamics. Hyundai also introduces three new matte color options: Atlas White, Ecotronic Gray, and Celadon Gray.

Bigger Batteries for Extended Range

The 2025 Ioniq 5 sees a boost in battery capacity, with the Standard Range battery increasing from 58.0 kWh to 63.0 kWh and the Long Range battery growing from 77.4 kWh to 84.0 kWh.

This upgrade translates to improved range figures, with the all-wheel-drive models now expected to achieve over 280 miles, while the rear-wheel-drive Long Range variant could exceed 310 miles on a single charge.

Enhanced Charging Capabilities

A major highlight of the 2025 model is the inclusion of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, making the Ioniq 5 the first Hyundai vehicle to be compatible with Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network without the need for an adapter.

This development comes alongside the Ioniq 5’s continued support for CCS chargers, ensuring that owners have versatile charging options.

More Ergonomic and Tech-Savvy Interior

Inside, the Ioniq 5 features a more ergonomic cabin with upgraded HVAC controls, larger 12.3-inch displays, and the introduction of physical buttons for commonly used functions like seat heating and parking assist.

The steering wheel design has also been refined, and all but the base SE model now come with heated rear seats as standard.

Introducing the Rugged XRT Trim

The new XRT trim adds a rugged edge to the Ioniq 5, designed for those who want to venture off-road. This version comes with a unique front end, digital camouflage accents, and a suspension lift that improves both approach and departure angles, making it more adept at handling rough terrain.

The XRT trim also includes exclusive interior touches such as leatherette seating with XRT logos and special all-weather floor mats.

U.S. Production and Tax Incentives

Production of the 2025 Ioniq 5 will begin at Hyundai’s new Metaplant in Georgia, making it the first vehicle to roll off the line at this facility.

This U.S. production allows the Ioniq 5 to qualify for federal tax credits, potentially making it an even more attractive option for buyers.

Coming to Dealerships This Fall

Hyundai expects the refreshed Ioniq 5 to hit dealerships this fall, with pricing and additional details to be announced closer to the launch date.
