At the Los Angeles Auto Show today, Honda announced the Accord Plug-in Hybrid will be available for retail sale and lease beginning January 15th in California and New York. The Accord Plug-in MSRP is $39,780.
The Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid has earned the highest rating in its class – it was rated by the EPA as having 115MPGe with 47/46/46 mpg (city/hwy/combined), surpassing plug-in electric vehicles like the Ford C-max Energi rated at 100MPGe, the Chevy Volt rated at 98MPGe and the Toyota Prius Plug-in rated at 95MPGe.
Also rated by the EPA, the Accord Plug-in has an all electric range of 13 miles.
It is also the first production car in America to meet the new LEV3/SULEV20 emissions standard. The Accord Plug-in will also qualify for single occupant access to California carpool lanes.
The Honda Accord Hybrid (non plug-in) will launch in the summer of 2013, and will be styled much closer to the conventional Accord Sedan.
